‘Cool Waters, 1979’ is a 9-colour screen print, using CMYK printing and added spot glazes. It is printed on 400gsm Albion Cotton paper. The print is signed and numbered by Poppy and is of a small edition of 30.
Much of her work seems to harbor a message of escapism. Her cutouts bare an image of floating through the cosmos, make something quite classic feel futuristic and otherworldly. Acknowledging these decades as a revolution for fashion and rock and roll, Poppy pines for the past.
‘Cool Waters, 1979’ uses original 1970’s found images and geometric patterns to create this refreshing yet absorbing image. Leading on from Poppy’s release ‘First Play’ this moves onto later years, taking a swim from the heat of the psychedelic 60’s into a new era of the late 70’s.
